As much as we wish it otherwise, cats get into trouble, sometimes hurting themselves. It isn’t limited either to a mischievous kitten. Adults, too, go out on the lookout for mischief. That’s why it’s important to plan your cat’s first aid kit.
A healthy cat is pretty resilient and can recover quickly. Having a first aid kit handy can save a vet visit. Cats, perhaps closer to their wild cousins, will hide the fact that they’re in pain. Showing pain is a sign of vulnerability. Rather, an injured pet may hide to avoid contact, sometimes in the oddest places. When a cat is acting like it’s in pain, it generally means something is very wrong.
Minor injuries like cuts and scrapes can easily be treated at home, thus preventing infection. Not all human products, however, are safe for cats. Biologically speaking, cats are very different from people–and dogs–so use of products specifically for felines is recommended.
One such product I came across is Pet Wellbeing’s Feline First Aid Kit. In addition to preventing infection, it helps to reduce pain. If you’re like me, the sight of seeing my cat, Sophie, limping around would just break my heart. What I liked about the Feline First Aid Kit too was the fact that it repels insects too, especially important for cats that go outdoors.
As cat owners, we don’t like to plan for mishaps, but being prepared with a cat first aid kit will certainly save time and discomfort if trouble finds your pet. Photo by simon_music
