Once the house is cleared out, move the pet to another room and clear out the one they were in. Make sure the room you place your pet has some familiar objects like a bed, food bowls, litter box, etc. If you’re using a carrier, it might be a good idea to leave it open in the room. You may be pleasantly surprised to find your pet inside the carrier when you come to get him. Saves you the hassle of stuffing her in there yourself.
Some people will use tranquilizers that you can get from your vet. I don’t know as if I’d use them, but judge for yourself. Your pet’s comfort is what is best.
